small victories
this week has been crazy with work, and trying to figure out html code to customize this blog. hooray for 3 colums on my blog now but this only due to this post that fixed the spacing. i now understand more about html which makes me groan but i love my new happy blog!

reason to revel: staying inside
after a week of lovely weather today is an especially dreary Kansas day. wind is rustling up little leaf tornadoes out on the sidewalk and i can only dream of snuggling up under a blanket and watching a good movie. although we are going out to dinner to celebrate my upcoming b-day and our anniversary i could easily be talked into staying in! it is just as important to celebrate regular life at home (and definitely warmer this time of year!)
this snuggle fest requires the perfect blanket (we have 3!)

arrrgghhh!
the family cooking team, paradise spice, did a great job over the weekend at the williams food chili challenge. we took 2nd place for showmanship and my salsa was 11th! (one spot away from an actual ribbon but I'm not complaining!) here are some pictures of the competition!

reason to revel friday
the chilly fall weather has me thinking about cozy indoor dinner parties and intimate gatherings of family. of course i can't do any gathering without lovely decorations so this weeks reason to revel is centerpeices with fall flair. these are so simple and beautiful you can easily put them together yourself!
i found this awesome wedding blog The Wedding Dish with great fall centerpiece ideas incorporating food. this one below used pomegranates (that i am loving right now, the look+the taste+the scent = yummy) these are so lovely. i added this one to my must read!
and this white pumpkin centerpiece is so clean and simple from Better Homes & Gardens
these beautiful apple centerpieces and decorations make me want to go home and dress up my kitchen table with granny smiths!

autumn-y weekend
last weekend we headed down to our cabin at the lake of the ozarks to help stain the outside. it proved to be a lovely autumn weekend, and still fun even though we were working.
a little cave surrounded by lovely fall colors
joey doing some much needed staining. she loves painting.
we made some fall crafts for my lovely MIL to take to local nursing homes
and of course one last ride before we took the boat of the water. it was very chilly but worth it. more pictures here!

reason to revel friday
my new "reason to revel" will hopefully be away for me to show you inspiring images from the web that will hopefully give you a reason to start planning for fun.
its almost the weekend and that means we all need a reason to revel, whether its a small gathering of friends or a blow out bash! and fall means KU football tailgate parties for my family and friends.
and ohh miss martha is always so inspiring. check out her table runner and coasters. this makes me dream up all kinds of football fun like astroturf and helmet bowls.

and these referree can coozies (in kansas yes we call them coozies, i know y'all may call them something else!) are so cute. i was thinking of getting some of my own out and using masking tape to do something similar! or click the picture to buy them.
where can i find one of those plastic grass welcome mats, and what can i make out of it?
